zomg - i play tuba (better than most, if i may say so) and as any musician will tell you, theres nothing better than a big solo.
well i got the music for flight of the bumblebee - tuba solo. INSANE. you all know how fast it goes, so needless to say i got to double tongue, cuz theres no slurs. worse, there is not a single rest on the first page after you start playing- only some eight rests in the middle of the second page. i can play the first page, but then it climbs up into the trumpet or french horn range, which is nearly impossible on a tuba. ive outplaced seniors since i got in high school, so im pretty good, but omg this is crazy.
btw-anyone know how to circular breath? something about in through the nose and out thru the mouth, but i cant get my muscles to do it.
i couldnt play the sound recording on my pc, cuz i dont have quiktime, but if someone finds it, please attach it to this thread.
please people continue this thread-i hope im not the only one who enjoys playing my instrument.

During my Junior High and Senior High days (ancient history for me now ), I played the Clarinet from 6th-10th grade. I switched to Tenor Saxophone in 11th-12th grade for regular band and Marching Band. Making the switch to Tenor Sax wasn't too difficult, since the scale for Tenor was identical to the Clarinet. The added weight (compared to the light Clarinet) did take some time getting used to, especially in Marching Band. After graduating from high school, I haven't touched either instrument since. Perhaps I'll have to bring it out of my closet and practice one of these days.
