nVIDIA just launched it's next generation, DirectX10, GeForce Series 8 lineup today. The two models being debuted are the GeForce 8800 GTX and the GeForce 8800 GTS, which are the high-end cards, with the mid and lower end GeForce 8 models being released later. The NDA for the two cards just expired, with reviews of the cards being unveiled across the Internet: [H]ardOCP: enthusiast.hardocp.com/article.html?art=MTIxOCwxLCxoZW50aHVzaWFzdA==TechReport: www.techreport.com/reviews/2006q4/geforce-8800/index.x?pg=1Gamepyre: www.gamepyre.com/reviewsd.html?aid=783&p=1FiringSquad: www.firingsquad.com/hardware/nvidia_geforce_8800_preview/Tom's Hardware: www.tomshardware.com/2006/11/08/geforce_8800/index.htmlThe performance on the GeForce 8800 GTX & GTS is just... incredible. The GeForce 8800 GTX completely leap-frogs the previous high-ends, GeForce 7950 GX2 & Radeon X1950 XTX, and is completely in a class by itself, while the GeForce 8800 GTS is closer in speed to the previous GeForce 7950 GX2. In many of the benchmarks from the review sites above, not only can the 8800 GTX can handle highly demanding games like TESIV: Oblivion and F.E.A.R. at insane resolutions, but can also do 16xAA/16xAF with ease and at very playable settings. Both the GeForce 8800 GTX and GeForce 8800 GTS models are now out and available on PC retailers, but many are going out of stock quickly.
