Some people here like anime, some do not. For those that do, what is your favorite anime series, and why?
I tend to like anime/television series that have deep, serious storylines, while still making complete sense and not going 'over the top' like some anime series do. My personal favorite is the Full Metal Panic series. While FMP! & FMP! The Second Raid contain serious storylines with a lot of action & violence, there are also light-hearted, comedic scenes scattered throughout the series that make the series even more enjoyable.  The FMP? Fumoffu series is a nice spin-off from the main FMP! series (especially for those that enjoy more humorous storylines), as it is non-serious and mostly comedic.

Oh noooo >.< it's the old favorite question...
I think I'll give my classic response of "I can't pick just one favorite, so here are some of my favorites."
I really like Gundam Seed. The art style's great and there's so much cool stuff. Giant robot battles, the drama of two friends who've become enemies but don't want to fight each other, the complex political drama. It's just great. I'm gonna start watching Gundam Seed Destiny soon.
Ranma 1/2 is another of my favorites. The whole guy who got cursed and turns into a girl part of the time thing is really funny. Then you add the crazy two gender romance drama and some random other adventures and it's really great.
ah yes /gg It's only 6 episodes, but the fact that it packed so much awesomeness into 6 episodes that it's in the running for my favorite anime is incredible. Foolie Coolie! ^_^ The only way to describe FLCL is "ROFLWTHHUH?ROFL... what? you don't get it? WATCH FOOLIE COOLIE THEN!!!"
hmmm... I must stop myself now of I'll discuss half the animes I've ever seen (maybe I have enough room for Haibane Renmei? no? aww...)
anyway, I haven't seen FMP yet. Now that it's been recommended I guess I have to watch it soon XD

I haven't seen a lot of anime series, but my favourite one I have seen is Slayers.

i have a lot xP
- Hellsing : Nothing to say about it...is the best
- Cowboy bebop : nice story line, nice characters
- Ghost in the shell: again, nothing to say, kick ass
- Gantz: an anime for smart people, is not easy to understand
- Death note: is cool, but the history is going down is the last episodes
- Elfen lied : nice draw, nice history, excellent music
- Ninja Scroll : another classic, say hello to the father of all the SUPERPOWANINJAS
and others i can't remember right now (07:39 a.m. lulz)
and for anime movies :
- Dead leaves : look for the trailer in youtube, is amazing and freak
- Akira: a classic
- Vampire hunter D and Vampire hunter D bloodlust : yes, i like Vampires XD
- Ghost in the shell movies : AMAZING
and again, others i can't remember right now xD

Hmm... that's a tough one, but I'd have to say DBZ. It's the first anime that I saw. I'll also list some of the anime's that i've collected.
Full Metal Alchemist (one of best anime's of all time)
Trinity Blood (vampire's vs human's = one great anime)
Cowboy Bebop (great series, and characters)
Samurai Champloo (same creator as Bebop and just as good)
Full Metal Panic (odd at first, but it's really good)
Movies:
Ninja Scroll (ninja's > pirates)
Ghost in the Shell (movies better than Stand Alone Complex)
Gundam Wing Endless Waltz (personal preference is Wing > Seed, but all of the Gundam's are done well)

My fave has to be Serial Experiments Lain, but i keep anime done by ABe Yoshitoshi in a different catagory cause they all pwn

n _ n Hey guys I saw this topic and I had to talk about ...
THE FIST...OF THE NORTH STAR!
HOKUTO NO KEN!
Basically this anime was one of the first animes to ever made it to America, this is also an anime that made one of the first huge masses of anime fans on the world ...
why?
I suppose it was the old day fashion, the main character -Kenshiro- is basically an older version of Goku, by older I mean:
-He is serious.
-He kills everybody
-He screams like Jackie Chan
-He has no mercy ...D:! seriously..no mercy...
-I wish i had his 8pack...
I haven't read what the story is about but basically Kenshiro wakes up in an age of havok and with his special martial art skills "north star fist ..duh" he can kick everyone's ass...
he can literally make you explode by twisting your nipple...no im serious..he makes you explode...

The anime was so asked by fans that they had to remake a new version with new effects and all
